FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)
1. Is Excel available inside DaDesktop (DD) for Power BI and VBA courses? (Since MS Excel functions are needed)
- No, MS Office is not provided within DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). Only a DD VM and a Training room are supplied.
- Trainers are expected to arrange a free-trial account of MS Office for all delegates.
- Alternatively, delegates may use their own MS Office account.
2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?
- Yes, we’ve introduced a user-friendly way to upload files from your own machine directly to the DD Desktop. The only minor restriction is that only one file can be transferred at a time. However, it’s easy to create a zip or archive file containing everything you need and copy that across to your DaDesktop machine.
- If you are using a cloud storage service, please remember to log out before cloning to all delegates.
3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?
- If you’re using the Chrome browser, navigate to “chrome://settings/system” and turn off the Hardware accelerate option.
4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?
- No, https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register states in the Terms and Conditions that a trainer cannot access the wiki.
- If you wish to suggest edits for the NobleProg wiki, simply copy and paste the content and send it to the trainer via email (a PDF is also fine).
5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?
Yes! Please whitelist any domains in India that follow this pattern :-
- *.npg.io
-
https://dd4t.dadesktop.com
For any further questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.
6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, for example for Ansible Training?
- The Trainer(s) can first configure DD with the required RAM, CPUs, and Disk.
- Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to set up multiple virtual machines and establish networking between them.
- Once the setup is complete, you can clone to delegates within seconds.
- Should you need assistance, please reach out to DaDesktop Support.
7. What is the server capacity?
- It depends on the server hardware.
- For example, 512GB RAM can be utilised as 512GB *3.
- The maximum disk per server is 250GB, with 16 Threads of CPUs per desktop; RAM configurations can be customised.
8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?
- Yes, recordings can now be downloaded using the three small dots to the right of the video player.
- The video includes voice recording, provided you use the audio from the training room.
9. Which browser should I use for DD?
- Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera work perfectly.
- Other browsers, such as IE, are not fully supported.
10. Why is there a huge delay when using DaDesktop?
- Check your network connection – DaDesktop performance is tied to your local connection speed.
- Verify the server location; when the coordinator creates the desktop, they will always select a server close to participants.
- Turn off your VPN or switch it to PAC mode. Also, disable any security applications, especially those that interfere with WebSockets operation, as smooth DaDesktop functioning depends on it.
11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network
Remote Desktop access relies on Websocket
- The issue might be with your device. Examine settings or configurations that block Websocket. For instance, on some Chromebooks, if the proxy setting “Use the same proxy for all protocols” is enabled, Websocket won’t work (because it forces the “SOCKS host” through a proxy). Untick it and leave “SOCKS host” blank – this should resolve the problem.
- Alternatively, the network itself could be blocking Websocket, not your device. In that case, contact your network administrator and request that Websocket be unblocked.
12. What support do you offer for GPU, i.e. for 3D applications, etc.?
- Please refer to this GPU page for details regarding GPU support.
13. Are there any known issues or answers?
- Using DaDesktop is generally similar to using any standard Windows or Linux machine, but a few minor points may arise when running specific software applications in a training environment, particularly when cloning machines.
14. Do you support Mac-compatible programs or Mac Emulation?
- No, we do not provide support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac Emulation, largely due to licensing issues that frequently crop up.
