Recycle Bin

After a course is completed, all course machines – i.e., Fresh Start, Trainer, and all Participant machines – are removed after a short while.

A feature has been added that allows these machines to be recovered from the 'Recycle Bin' for some time after they have been removed from the course. The period within which machines can be restored depends on factors such as server disk space, course usage, etc., and is not fixed. However, we expect that machines should normally be recoverable for at least a couple of months after the course ends.

Each machine can be Restored back to its Course if the Course still exists; otherwise it can be Restored to a Standalone Desktop, or if preferred, Deleted entirely.

Recycle Bin

The status of your Recycle bin can be checked by looking at the Recycle Bin icon. If it is black, there are machines that can be restored; if greyed-out, no machines are available in the bin for restoration.

You can also search the list of machines in your Recycle Bin by name, server name, or course name.

How to Restore or Delete your machines from the Recycle Bin

  1. Restore – This is used to restore a machine that was deleted from a course. The machine will be restored to the course it was part of. If the course has finished, the machine cannot be restored there and can only be restored as a Standalone machine instead, as explained below.
  2. Restore to Standalone Desktop – Typically, this is used when your course has ended and the machine cannot be restored to it. Restoring to a Standalone machine offers more flexibility, as the machine will be kept for as long as needed.
  3. Delete – To completely remove a machine from the Recycle Bin, use 'Delete'. N.B. Once deleted from the Recycle Bin, the machine cannot be restored.
  4. Empty Recycle Bin – Pressing the red Empty Recycle Bin button will delete all your machines from the Recycle Bin, meaning they cannot be used again.
